Why do my contacts receive mails from me regarding "Please whitelist me"?
Everyday, SPAMfighter receives support from users that asks us "why does some people not receive my mails". Almost every time it shows the receiver has an anti-spam filter that of various reasons has acknowledged the senders mail as spam. This is why we have made this free service that can ask your contacts to "whitelist" you so your mails will always be accepted by them.
At some point in time SPAMfighter has "asked" if you wanted to send the below message to your contacts. If you had accepted this, the below message would appear and you would have been able to make your own comments.
I use a good spam filter, and you probably do the same. I have whitelisted you and that means that I will receive all the emails you send to me. I would appreciate it if you would whitelist me in your spam filter.
If you don't have a spam filter, I can recommend SPAMfighter. It is a highly effective free spam filter for Outlook and Outlook Express.
You can get the free SPAMfighter here: www.spamfighter.com/Pro/
I hope that you will whitelist me, so we can continue to communicate safely via email in the future.
Best regards
*YOUR NAME*
In the next step, you would have been forced to write your name before you could accept and go on to a page where your contact list was shown and you could de-select any contact of your choice. After this, you would have been able to send out the mail(s)
As you can see, you accepted all 3 steps in the wizard and we sincerely did not try to hide anything from you as we would never "spam" anybody.
If you would like to "double check", please do this:
Install SPAMfighter by choosing "Start" and "Run"
Write this: "C:\Program Files\SPAMfighter\SPAMCFG.EXE" /f:whitelist
Click OK
Don’t worry, if you have already mailed out once, you will not be able to do it again unless you have added new contacts, but you can always stop before "step 3".
At the same time, it is important to know, that SPAMfighter does not have not access to you contact list, nor is it us who is sending out the mails.

How can I stop sending mails regarding "white list me"?
Since it's you own PC that is sending the mails, we can not stop it for you.
To stop sending the mails you need to do the following:
Download and run the program: http://cache.spamfighter.com/download/clearmailqueue.exe
When you run the program, a black box will appear for a short moment, then your sent mails have been stopped.

To do this please follow this guide:
Go to: "More" -> "Options" -> "Client Setting" -> "Outlook 2000/2002/2003" -> "Open" under 'Auto rescan' -> "Add" your inbox/folders -> Click on "OK"
This feature will not work in "Cached Exchange Mode"

I am running NORTON ANTI VIRUS and I can't get SPAMfighter to work, what should I do?
If you run into an Install Shield Error 1603 or 1607, follow this guide:
* Reboot your computer
* DON'T start Outlook
* Deactivate Norton
* Uninstall SPAMfighter using "Add/Remove programs" in your Windows control panel
* Download and install the newest version of SPAMfighter here
* Open Outlook and check if everything is all right
* Activate your Norton
If for some reason it still does not work, you need to take off the gloves.
* Reboot your computer
* DON'T start outlook
* Deactivate Norton
* Download and run this program
* Reboot your computer again
* Deactivate Norton
* Install the newest version of SPAMfighter
* Open Outlook and check if everything is all right
* Activate Norton
However, the Remove.exe file will remove all your SPAMfighter settings like black/white lists and statistics. If you have Norton Anti-spam, you will need to deactivate it, since that product will most likely conflict with SPAMfighter. Both are trying to access your emails for the same reasons, and that can make Outlook very unstable.

Why does my firewall give me warnings when I use SPAMfighter?
When SPAMfighter checks whether an email is spam or not, it has to consult the SPAMfighter Server. Your firewall can mistake this for malicious activity. Take a look at our firewall guide to solve the problem.

I get an Explorer.exe error when I start the computer, why?

Go to Start -> Programmer -> SPAMfighter -> Modify SPAMfighter.
Choose "Modify" -> "Next"
Uninstall SPAMfighter for Outlook Express and restart your computer

Why can't SPAMfighter reach the login server?
First ensure that you are connected to the Internet, if not, go on-line and try again.
If you are behind a firewall, allow SPAMfighter to connect to our server. Her are the settings:
TCP Settings
Direction: Outbound & Inbound
Local Port: All
Remote Port: Fixed (2409)
UDP Settings
Direction: Outbound & Inbound
Local Port: All
Remote Port: Fixed (2409)
If you have installed a personal Firewall like Zone Alarm, take a look here.
If you are behind a Proxy Server please download SocksCap.
If you still get this error message, although you are always connected to the Internet or always connect to it before starting Outlook, please follow these steps:
- Click "Start" > "All Programs" > "SPAMfighter" > "Settings".
- Click "Open" beneath "Advanced Settings".
- Under "Connection Type", choose "Always Connected (DSL/Cable/LAN)", and click OK twice to save the setting.

During installation I get an "Installation Error 1603 or 1607" what is wrong?
This indicates that you have a conflict with the common installation program "InstallShield" which we use to "wrap" our program in. InstallShield is used by many computer companies like Microsoft and HP. We aren't sure what is causing this conflict, but it's not uncommon. It can be, for example, an Anti-virus conflict (especially Norton), that outlook hasn't properly closed down.
Please try this:
* Reboot your computer
* DON'T start Outlook
* Deactivate your Anti-virus software
* Download and run this program
* Download and install the newest version of SPAMfighter here
* Open Outlook and check if everything is all right
* Activate your Anti-Virus software
If this doesn't help, you need to do something more:
* Reboot your computer
* DON'T start Outlook
* Deactivate your Anti-virus software
* Download and run this program:
* Reboot your computer again
* Deactivate your Anti-virus software
* Run the isscript.msi
* Install the newest version of SPAMfighter
* Open Outlook and check if everything is all right
* Activate your Anti-Virus software
The Remove.exe file will remove all your SPAMfighter settings like black/white lists and statistics.

Why is spam still slipping through?
SPAMfighter filters more than 90% of spam. As the number of SPAMfighters grows, the server will catch more spam. You may also be receiving spam that other SPAMfighters are not receiving, so fight back against the spammers and BLOCK the spam, by selecting the spam and clicking the Block button. If you aren't achieving at least 85% spam removal, try setting the filter on a harder level.
Go to More > Advanced Options and use the slider to choose a harder sensitivity setting.
Be aware that not everything you receive unsolicited is spam. SPAMfighter is not designed to remove viruses, virus warnings or other non commercial mails. What SPAMfighter can do for you, is remove a large portion of the unsolicited emails you receive in your inbox.

SPAMfighter will not uninstall, why?
The easiest way to remove SPAMfighter is to use the Add/Remove Programs tool in the Windows Control Panel. You can find the Add/Remove Program by following these steps:
Open the Start Menu > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Choose SPAMfighter and click Remove.
OR
Open the Start Menu > Programs > SPAMfighter. Run "Installation" and choose "Remove"
It is always a good idea to deactivate your anti-virus software while uninstalling SPAMfighter.
If that fails, please try this:
* Download this file and save it on your computer.
* Close Outlook
* Deactivate your anti-virus product
* Run the program Remove.exe.
* Delete the SPAMfighter folder from c:\program files\
* Reboot
* If you want, download the new SPAMfighter here.

Why does SPAMfighter occasionally filter regular newsletters?
SPAMfighter works primarily on the basis of users reporting the spam they receive. Unfortunately, some users report regular newsletters as spam, possibly because they are too lazy to unsubscribe. This means that SPAMfighter in rare cases block regular newsletters.
If you closely monitor the spam folder the first month after installing SPAMfighter and "unblock" the newsletters you want to keep, SPAMfighter will learn what you want to receive and what you want to filter.

Why does the "New Mail" icon appear when I have only received spam?
Unfortunately we are unable to prevent the "New Mail Icon" from appearing, even though only spam was received. We are hoping to solve this issue for future versions.

My SPAMfighter Toolbar has appeared, but spam mails are not moved to the SPAMfighter folder.
Go to "More" -> "Options" -> "Statistics". If there are a lot of timeouts, you might be behind a firewall. If so, you must allow SPAMfighter to connect to our server.
Go to the Firewall section in this FAQ.

Why do I get ERROR 1638?
This means that you already have SPAMfighter installed and have possibly tried to install an older version of SPAMfighter.
Choose either "Repair" when installing, or uninstall using Add/Remove programs in your control panel.
After that, please install again. Always install the latest version from the SPAMfighter Website.

Why do I get an InstallScript error?
The InstallScript error might indicate that you are trying to install the product without Administrator privileges. If you are running Windows 2000 or XP, please make sure that these privileges are associated with your Windows User Account.
SPAMfighter version 3.6.4 or newer automatically sets up the privileges for SPAMfighter on each user account.
If you encounter any problem with the privileges after an update, please follow this guide:
* Close Outlook
* Go to "Start" -> "Programs" -> "SPAMfighter" -> "Remove SPAMfighter"
* Restart your computer
* Don't open Outlook!
* Delete the SPAMfighter folder from c:\program files\
* Install SPAMfighter
You can download the latest version of SPAMfighter here.

Why do I get more spam sent to me every day?
Never open a spam mail, and remember to turn the preview pane off, so that only those messages you deliberately open are displayed. The pictures, also called web bugs in spam mails, are usually designed so that spammers can see if you open them, which means a lot of spam.
To turn the preview pane off:
Outlook 2000/XP: Click View Menu > Preview Pane.
Outlook 2003: Click View Menu > Reading Pane > Off.
Look at our flash tutorial if you need more help.
