Software sits between a user's e-mail client and the Internet, filtering incoming messages based on rules defined by third-party companies. AIT, a web hosting company, today announced that it has beefed up anti-spam service that is available at no cost. The company says that the upgrade entails software that sits between a user's e-mail client and the Internet, poring through incoming messages and filtering based on rules defined by third-party companies who monitor known proxy servers, RBL lists, and other spam senders. The only fee is a one-time charge for pointing a user's MX record. E-mail is read as normal, but without the junk; spam is automatically siphoned out of the flow. The service also means filtering without 'false positive', where important messages are treated as spam.
