Marketing Sherpa: Techies look to blogs, have new take on 'spam'
More techies are reading industry blogs and have a whole new take on "spam" e-mails, according to a recent marketing study.
MarketingSherpa, a research and publishing firm based in Warren, reported the above trends in its recently released Business Technology Benchmark Guide 2006, which focuses on 14 separate topics in marketing on-line.
The firm said the report's key findings were: Nearly half of businesses using the Internet define "spam" as any e-mail sent too frequently from a company with which it does business; about a third of techies read industry blogs on a regular basis; and only 44 percent of executives say they unsubscribe electronic newsletters they no longer want.
MarketingSherpa said the study was done jointly with CNET Networks Inc., owner of several information technology Web sites. More than 600 professionals and executives in technology-related fields completed a survey for the study, according to the firm.
