Since its debut in May 2003, SPAMfighter has removed more than one billion spam emails from computers all over the world. If we assume it takes five seconds to receive and delete a spam message, the total time saving amounts to 158 years. In the two years since it began operations, SPAMfighter has filtered 1.7 billion emails, one billion of which have been spam.
“Spam is a plague on Internet users, and we are very pleased to have helped solve this problem for so many people. Several years ago, when we started cybernet.dk (the forerunner to Jubii.dk), our mail server was misused by spammers, leading to countless frustrations. So we are also very happy about getting revenge. After all, the removal of one billion spam emails is not insignificant”, says Martin Thorborg, co-founder of SPAMfighter.
SPAMfighter draws its power from the fact that 650,000 users report spam as they receive it, with a single click. Once several users have reported the same spam mail, it is then automatically filtered for all other users. The result is that more than 95 per cent of all spam is filtered out before it reaches each user.
