Apple iPad Proves to be Apple of the Spammer’s Eye

Hype spurs a 30% increase in Apple spam and is set to rise!

Consumers are not the only ones excited by the recent launch of Apple's much anticipated Apple iPad. Spammers are also taking advantage of the recent hype.
Apple lovers beware - spammers are working overtime disguised as Apple iPad oriented spam to dupe the unsuspecting Apple lover. Consumers who take the bait could fall foul and risk losing their personal information to malicious spammers.
SPAMfighter, the company backed by the world's largest spam fighting community, reports a 30% increase in Apple oriented spam in this week alone and expects an exponential increase in weeks to come. SPAMfighter attributes the rise of this type of spam to the fact that spammers are playing on Apple lovers' blind passion for Apple products by sending "email booby-traps" to catch out unsuspecting consumers.

"Apple's much hyped iPad launch is just another example of how spammers capitalize on 'of-the-moment' news developments and prey on unsuspecting users. People should never click on links via email from unknown sources, despite how tempting the deal or offer may be," said SPAMfighter co-founder Martin Thorborg. "To avoid being a victim, be vigilant, keep your anti-spam filter up-to-date and use a community-based spam filter as an additional layer of security to help reduce the amount of harmful spam you can potentially receive."
