SPAMfighter 2007 End of Year Report

SPAMfighter has again been fighting hard in the war against spam in 2007. With over 1.8 million new users in 2007, the SPAMfighter community has grown, increasing the efficiency of SPAMfighter.

In 2007, SPAMfighter filtered 5.3 billion spam mails for the SPAMfighter community. If we assume that each spam mail takes 5 seconds of an e-mail user's time, we can calculate how much time has been saved. This year, SPAMfighter saved e-mail users 1,179 years of manual labor.

The SPAMfighter community is spread around the world in over 215 countries. The country with the most SPAMfighter users is Holland. In Germany, there are over 320,000 SPAMfighter's.

Some trends in spam seen in 2007 have been PDF spam, mp3 spam, and an increase in holiday spam. PDF spam and other large forms of spam mail are expected to increase in 2008. However, mp3 spam mails, those with mp3 files attached, have already begun to decrease, and are expected to be minimal in 2008. Holiday spam has increased in 2007.

With the change in different forms of spam mails, it is important to have a spam filter that can adapt quickly to the changes. SPAMfighter is a community spam filter. This means that when a spam mail slips through the spam filter, a user has the ability to quickly and easily report it. As soon as it's been reported enough times, it will be filtered for all other SPAMfighter users.

In addition, SPAMfighter has technicians working around the clock to release antidotes to stop the latest forms of spam mail. In 2007, SPAMfighter released an automatic updating spam engine. This new spam engine allows users to get the best and latest protection, without having to update to a new version of SPAMfighter.
