Summer bargain hunters beware - spammers are skipping their tans and working overtime to issue spam disguised as last minute summer deals to dupe the unsuspecting vacation-maker, leaving them at risk to identity theft or other malicious email borne scams.

SPAMfighter reports a 49% increase last month in spam moonlighting as emails from United Airlines and other major airlines as well as travel booking services. SPAMfighter attributes the increase to the latest travel trend -frugality. U.S. Travel Association cited that almost two-thirds (62 percent) of U.S. adults intending to travel for leisure purposes between now and October are more likely than last year to comparison shop for deals and travel bargains - especially on the internet.

"Spammers are playing on human emotion by sending out email booby traps disguised as last-minute summer deals offering ridiculously low prices and airfares to catch out the unsuspecting summer deal-seeker," says SPAMfighter co-founder Martin Thorborg.
