W32/Bymer installs a Dnetc client (not viral). Note that if Dnetc.exe and Dnetc.ini are present on a computer, this in itself does not necessarily mean that you are infected. These files may be on the computer for legitimate reasons. More info about Dnetc may be found here: http://www.distributed.net Distributed.net is a non-profit organization which combines thousands of computers around the word to use their processing power in idle times to solve various special tasks. The W32/Bymer is deploying copies of distributed.net's Dnetc client. |
