The Advanced subject is divided into three sub-subjects - Advanced, Security, and Data storage. From the Advanced tab you are, among other things, able to configure the mailbox rescan options, integration settings, and performance settings. From the Security tab you are able to edit the configuration security settings, i.e. specify which groups should be allowed to actually change settings. From the Data storage tab you can select and configure the data provider, i.e. Microsoft SQL or SQLite.

Jump to: Advanced / Security / Data storage for detailed information on the subject.

Mailbox Rescan Options

Enable the mailbox rescan option by marking the checkbox. When enabled, you are able to configure various rescan options.

rescan_scaled

When the rescan mailbox function is enabled, you are able to specify the time interval between rescans, measured in minutes. This interval is per default set to 60 minutes. Furthermore, you can specify that the rescan function only will take place in certain time domains. For instance, between the hours 08:00 and 12:00.

Marking the checkbox "Only rescan unread messages", will cause messages that are unread to not be scanned once again. The last checkbox, "Delete spam mails during rescan after", lets you specify how many days should pass before spam mails detected during a rescan should be deleted.

Remember to click the Save mailbox rescan options button to store any new changes made. Be aware, that any changes to these settings will involve an automatic restart of the SPAMfighter service.

Rescan Status

When the rescan function is enabled, the Rescan status section becomes active. This means, that you are able to start a rescan process. You also have the possibility of only rescanning specific user's mailboxes. Simply click the appropriate button. Note, that when choosing to rescan only selected user's mailboxes, you must use the Choose user function. This function is described in the Mailboxes - Search section.

Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services. Here you must look for the service named "SPAMfighter", right-click it and select restart. This will restart the SPAMfighter service.

Performance Settings

As some of the methods and techniques used by SEM could cause performance in Exchange to degrade, it is possible to deselect some of these techniques. This might ensure an optimum performance. Use the checkboxes to deselect / select. We suggest you only deselect some of these techniques if you are experiencing performance problems.
