Installing the SEM

Complete the following steps to install SEM.

 

Note, that an initial configuration (the Setting up SEM section) is contained in the installation procedure, and must be finalized before the installation is complete.

 

Note, if you plan to use SPAMfighter in a Clustered Exchange environment - please read the section Installation of SEM Clustering instead.

Preparing the install

First of all, you must open the SEM.exe file. This will begin the installation.

 

1.Select which language should be used during the installation. Use the drop-down menu to choose, and click OK to move on.

2.A welcome window is displayed. Click Next to continue.

3.Complete the connectivity test. In order to be successfully installed, SEM will check if the required connectivity options are present. In detail, SEM will connect to either sem.licensing.spamfighter.com (TCP port 80), or servers.backend.spamfighter.com (UDP port 2409). If this fails, the installation procedure can not be completed. Click Next to begin the connectivity test.

4.Accept the license agreement and click Next to move on. If you do not accept the installation is aborted.

5.Select if a 30 days free trial of VIRUSfighter for Exchange should be installed. VIRUSfighter for Exchange is an addon to SEM, which will add virus protection for your server and mail enabled users on your Exchange server. Mark the checkbox if you wish to install it, and/or click Next to continue.

6.The SEM is now ready to be installed, click Next to do so. A progress bar is displayed during the installation.

Note, that an initial configuration of SEM must be finalized before the installation of SEM is complete. The setup will open in a new window, described in the following section - Setting up SEM.
