SPAMfighter doesn't start/load before Outlook Express fetch your e-mails
|
If you use message rules in Outlook Express to sort your email to different folders SPAMfighter can't take action and sort the spam out. The reason is that Outlook Express let the message rules run BEFORE SPAMfighter catches in and SPAMfighter will only be able to scan the inbox. If you want to clean the other folders, please use "More" -> "Clean Folder" in the SPAMfighter toolbar.
|
SPAMfighter is only filter some spam mails, why?
|
If SPAMfighter doesn't start/load before Outlook Express fetch your e-mails, SPAMfighter won't filter your spam mails. Please try this and see if it solved your problem: In Outlook Express go to: Tools -> Options.
Remove the check from "Send and receive messages at startup"
|
Why is spam still slipping through?
|
SPAMfighter filters more than 90% of spam. As the number of SPAMfighters grows, the server will catch more spam. You may also be receiving spam that other SPAMfighters are not receiving, so fight back against the spammers and BLOCK the spam, by selecting the spam and clicking the Block button. If you aren't achieving at least 85% spam removal, try to setting the filter on a harder level.
Go to More > Advanced Options and use the slider to choose a harder sensitivity setting.
Be aware that not everything you receive unsolicited is spam. SPAMfighter is not designed to remove viruses, virus warnings or other non commercial mails. What SPAMfighter can do for you, is remove a large portion of the unsolicited emails you receive in your inbox.
|
Why does SPAMfighter occasionally filter regular newsletters?
|
SPAMfighter works primarily on the basis of users reporting the spam they receive. Unfortunately, some users report regular newsletters as spam, possibly because they are too lazy to unsubscribe. That means that SPAMfighter in rare cases block regular newsletters.
But if you closely monitor the spam folder the first month after installing SPAMfighter and "unblock" the newsletters you want to keep. SPAMfighter will learn what you want to receive and what you want to filter.

Why do I get an InstallScript error ?
|
The InstallScript error might indicate that you are trying to install the product without Administrator privileges. If you are running Windows 2000 or XP, please make sure that these privileges are associated with your Windows User Account.
SPAMfighter version 3.6.4 or newer does automatically setup the privileges for SPAMfighter on each user account.
If you expire any problem with the privileges after an update please follow this guide:
* Close Outlook / Express
* Go to "Start" -> "Programs" -> "SPAMfighter" -> "Remove SPAMfighter"
* Restart your computer
* Don't open Outlook / Express!
* Delete the SPAMfighter folder from c:\program files\
* Install SPAMfighter
|
Why do I get more spam sent to me every day?
|
Never open a spam mail, and remember to turn the preview pane off, so that only those messages you deliberately open are displayed. The pictures also called webbugs in spam mails are usually designed such that spammers can see if you open them, and that means lots of spam.
To turn the preview pane off:
Click View Menu > Layout and remove the check mark beside Show Preview Pane.
Outlook Express 6.0 offers a "Read all messages as plain text" option. This is a good alternative to disabling the preview pane.
|
