“Third Wave” SQL Injection Attack More Intricate

The recent SQL injection attack, which damaged at least half a million Websites, is now in the "third wave" of activity that is more resistive to conventional security measures, say security researchers at IBM.

After tracking SQL injection attacks over the past 5-6 years, Research Manager for the X-Force Technology, David Dewey at IBM's Internet Security Systems unit said that the latest attack was one of the highly complex obfuscation he had ever seen, as reported by NETWORKWORLD on May 15, 2008.
