Hackers From China Targeted Congressional Systems

On June 11, 2008, a New Jersey Congressman claimed that he is one of the 3 law makers whose system have been targeted from China in search of data regarding human-rights legislation and political dissidents.

Representative Christopher Smith declared in December 2006 and then in March 2007 that the system of human right subcommittee were targeted by a virus that were aimed to take over the computers, as reported by NJ on June 12, 2008.

At that time, IT officials repaired the system and said to the staff of Smith that the attacks appeared to have come from People's Republic of China or from a Chinese IP address. The criminals attacked the files associated with China that have the list of Chinese dissidents and legislative proposals.
