Viruses Increase in July 2008 While Spam DecreaseVASCO, a software security firm, on September 4, 2008, announced the findings of its aXs Guard Gatekeeper Internet Threat Survey. The company surveyed 400 SMEs with 5-250 online users in July 2008 and revealed that there had been certain malicious cyber activities around the holiday season in Europe. Based on its survey for July 2008, the security firm found that the number of active viruses had increased 25%, while the total number of their attacks had been more than twice that of May 2008. The study further revealed that the number of freshly created viruses scored very high as they also occupied places in the Top Ten list for most prevalent viruses during July 2008.
