Sophos Reveals NHTCU’s Domain Snapped by a German Firm

According to reports coming in from security agency Sophos, in early September 2008, it reportedly called on the UK government officials to enhance their control over their new and old Websites. This follows the finding of a prolonged dead government domain namely National High Tech Crime Unit (NHTCU) going under the ownership of a private German Web company Uwe Matt. The defunct domain was discovered on August 2, 2008.

The reports further indicated that NHTCU had stopped functioning in April 2006 when its service was shifted to the SOCA (Serious Organized Crime Unit). Despite that, Website worldwide still link to the NHTCU site, with recent reports of BBC linked to this site about a tale of Gary McKinnon, a NASA hacker.
