Hackers Launched Massive Hacking Campaign, Victimize Thousands

The security vendor Kaspersky Lab warned on November 7, 2008 that hackers have started a large scale campaign of Web hacking, connecting around 10,000 servers with malevolent links.

According to the website of Kaspersky, in just two days (November 5 and 6, 2008), around 2,000 to 10,000 servers, profoundly in the US and Western Europe, are estimated to have suffered attacks, as reported by ComputerWorld, on November 7, 2008. So far, Kaspersky has come to know nothing about the hackers behind it.

Further, the hackers reportedly used the hacked accounts on the Internet sites for launching SQL injection attacks. In such an attack, the cyber crooks defraud the software of website, resulting into the unintentional execution of malevolent commands.
