Fake Web-based Games of Bad Piggies Contaminate Over 80K ComputersBarracuda Networks the security company claims that counterfeit "Bad Piggies" online-games available for sale through the Chrome storage of Google likely have contaminated people's computers numbering 80K with malicious software. It maybe mentioned that 'Bad Piggies' is a novel creation of Rovio after his creation of "Angry Birds." Actually, Bad Piggies' real version can be obtained from Android or Apple. Presently there are a total of 8 games appearing within the Chrome storage whilst Web-surfers do an online-search for 'Bad Piggies." If loaded, these games, which are a fake, attack several specific Internet sites namely Yahoo, MSN, MySpace, e-Bay and IMDB along with exhibiting more ads during visits to the same sites. Security researchers at Barracuda came across 8 'plug-ins' that were described as the game and which contained the term 'Bad Piggies.' There was a common source -playbook.info- for 7 of the total plug-ins, the source that asserted as creating non-chargeable Flash games. Nevertheless, there are ample indications of the malicious nature of the said plug-ins. One, an online hunt for 'whois' gives little results since they're concealed behind 'whoisguard,' a rather doubtful thing from a business, according to Barracuda. Two, and the more significant indication is that each of the 7 plug-ins ask for consent towards gaining admission into visitors' data while they browsed any of the websites, something that no online-game is expected to do. Now if any end-user relays such consent to a plug-in he can be endangered with hackers' theft as also subsequent sale of his e-mail id and/or payment card details. Thus Ding advises Chrome Web-users to be critical of any consent requested while attempting at loading a plug-in within Chrome's web-store. Incase the consent request seems unreasonable, the related plug-in shouldn't be loaded. But suppose anyone has already loaded, he must unload it immediately while set a new password for all the other websites, Ding adds. Hothardware.com published this dated October 10, 2012. Conclusively Ding states that as Chrome becomes increasingly important in the market, Google requires ensuring improved security solutions for the protection of Chrome storage visitors, according to tgdaily.com published on October 10, 2012.
