The Clerk of Courts for Duval County Alert about Scam E-mails

The Duval County in Florida, USA's local court the Clerk of Courts has issued an alert to the public that bogus e-mails are circulating that make phony announcements pretending to be the court's messages, published news4jax.com, April 21, 2014.

A minimum of 3 individuals lately informed the Clerk's officials about fraudulent electronic mails landing in their inboxes whose sender asserted he was Duval County court's clerk.

Recipients of the e-mails seemingly were told they must come to court while required following a web-link alternatively viewing an attached file.

Telling more about the scam electronic mail, Charlie Broward Spokesman of the Clerk-of-Courts in Duval County stated that every recipient of the scam e-mail found a different individual asserting he belonged to the clerk's place of work. Actionnewsjax.com reported this, April 21, 2014.

Broward stated that when the clerk's office investigated for the individuals' names, it could not match them with any department. According to him, there had never been any electronic mail from Duval County's Clerk-of-Courts asking one to appear in court.

According to Reid Oxley, one of the seniors, he couldn't understand what lay behind the motive for anybody to scam people.Actionnewsjax.com reported this.

Oxley remarked it was simply like exploiting vulnerable people.

He explained that incase he received one message online directing him for appearing in court, he would have gotten worried. A court matter normally had deadlines and the result of not appearing on the exact date as well as time was only fines imposed on the person.

However, as per Broward, when officials from the Clerk-of-Courts wanted to communicate with anyone, they did so only via mail.

He said while the clerk's office sent all things via mail, it was rarely ever that a member of the public would have requested the office to send him something.

Elsewhere the Spokesman stated that the web-link was surely one spam and likely to prove dangerous. Wokv.com reported this, April 21, 2014.

Broward suggested users to tread cautiously, particularly while proceeding to open attachments else clicking web-links.

For confirming if one required appearing in court, people could dial 904-255-2000 and talk to a Clerk-of-Courts official.
