Online Accounts of US Spy Chief James Clapper Hacked

One of the "teenage hackers" who breached AOL email account of CIA director last year, has also targeted officials of government intelligence department. Motherboard has learnt that his latest victim is James Clapper who is the Director of National Intelligence.

A group of hackers, known as "Crackas With Attitude" or CWA was in the news in October, Cracka being a part of the "Crackas with Attitude" group, hacked email account of John Brennan, Director of CIA, and probably accessing to many online tools and portals which are being used by law enforcement agencies of US. The exploits by hackers impelled FBI to deliver warning to alert government officials about their attacks.

The office of Mr. Clapper confirmed about the hacking but did not provide details. Brian Hale, a spokesman, said that they are aware of the problem and they have reported about this to the proper authorities.

Cracka confirmed that he has broken a chain of accounts belonging to Clapper which includes his internet and residence telephone, personal email and yahoo email account of his wife. Cracka claimed that having control over the Verizon FiOS account of Clapper, he has changed the settings so that every call to his residence number will be forwarded to the Free Palestine Movement. Cracka and CWA got bad name last year because of their actions supporting Palestine cause.

Hackers of the group have announced that they are teenaged students of high school. The group contacted Motherboard to inform about their recent activities and said that they would be inactive when public came to know through press about these incidents. Reporters of Motherboard verified the hack after Cracka sent them a list of telephone call logs which was found to be of different national agencies of US. Officials of Government have also confirmed the incident.

Softpedia.com posted on 13th January, 2016, stating that hackers might have obtained the required information through social engineering tricks, just like the case of CIA boss, to crack the accounts and compromise the Verizon My FiOS account.

Unlike other government officials, Clapper has not hidden his online presence and his home address and phone numbers still can be tracked through simple Google searches which have facilitated the incident.
