Retail store Eddie Bauer based in Bellevue, Washington declared on August 18, 2016 that malware had infected its PoS systems letting unauthorized parties reach customers' credit and debit card data during January 2-July 17 this year (2016). But customers who made purchases via the eddiebauer.com website didn't have their card data affected.

Following the announcement, KrebsOnSecurity.com, on 5th July 2016, contacted Eddie Bauer because it (the website) had known about the breach from many people engaged in combating scams against financial institutions in USA.
