Florida Highway Guard Cautions Motorists about Traffic Citation Fraud

According to a warning by Florida's Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV), residents should watch out for a new Internet scam that makes victims lose precious money. The specific ruse aims at making people imagine they've payment of a traffic citation due on them. Patch.com posted this, December 21, 2016.

Internauts who receive the scam e-mail are told that they've violated traffic rule and so it is necessary they make a payment towards a citation, actually false, within a specific time-period otherwise pay late fee each successive day. A web-link is provided on which the drivers can deposit the money. The Department stated that albeit the web-link looks inactive, anybody believing he has been victimized with the scam, must disprove making the payment while inform his bank for adopting suitable safeguard measures.

The scam electronic mail for instance states the driver overlooking the red traffic light turned right which is illegal. It then warns the recipient must pay the citation otherwise the charged sum would increase by $50 on every third day alternatively he might have his license put off. There is DHSMV's logo implanted on the e-mail that makes the message appear genuine, however according to the state, it isn't. The presence of the Department's symbol might scare the public into parting with their money in favor of the scammers, says South Florida & the Caribbean's Better Business Bureau office.

Beth Frady Spokeswoman for the department cautions people against believing these posers. According to her, it is a fraud which is wholly intended for the fraudsters to fill their pockets when vacation is here and that is most frustrating.

DHSMV elaborated the real way Florida State operated. Whenever a consumer received any citation, it first passed via law-enforcement followed with to court's clerk followed with court's clerk informing the department towards issuing a put off in case court doesn't take any action. These are all the steps very lucidly explained to the consumers, Frady stated.

People who turn recipients of dubious citations through e-mail are suggested talking with their area court's clerk else the DHSMV without delay.
