West Hartford Town Website Hacked

The website of West Hartford town is reported to have been attacked in the morning of July 6; however, according to the authorities, the website's user data wasn't breached. The site named www.westhartfordct.gov continues to be inaccessible; while it is broadcasting a notification stating that it's not possible to reach the site alternatively "www.westhartfordct.gov took too long to respond."

West Hartford cops said it was around 7.30 in the morning when the hack came in notice. The Information Technology department of the town instantly disconnected the website from the Internet while it's making the efforts for rectifying the problem. The facilities from the website are temporarily unavailable. The town's police have joined up with CTIC (CT Intelligence Center) for conducting an investigation. According to CTIC, recently plenty of hacks have occurred on government websites, while the current one has reached way to California.

Police emphasize the public isn't endangered while the hack is only on the website. Other networks of the town are not impacted while all personal information remains safe from compromise.

West Hartford Police issued a statement on July 6 informing that the town's police department was probing while in joint action with CTIC trying to find out how the hack occurred. CTIC revealed about defacements occurring on too many government websites all over the country, with the current one as well striking communities to the great distance of California. Public safety is not threatened, police said.

Police further stated merely the public portal fell to the attack, while network of the town was untarnished. What's more, personal data was secure as before. We-ha.com posted this on the Web, dated July 6, 2017.

Even as cops in joint action investigate with Connecticut Intelligence Center regarding the way the hack took place, they describe it as among those government websites which were getting attacked nationwide.

Police stated the hack occurred only on the town's online portal facing the public, while didn't involve the PC-network of West Hartford. The website and network are separate. That implied there was not any compromise of personal information belonging to residents. Investigation is on.
