Residents warned by officials of Limestone County about a scam notice

 

The Sheriff's Office of Limestone County, a county in Alabama State of United States, wants to make public aware about a scam notice.

 

As per the department, a pre-qualification letter about an unsecured loan has been received by a resident of Limestone County. A fraudulent phone number as well as web address under company name "Reliant 123" was there in the pre-qualification letter. The Sheriff's Office of Limestone County says that Reliant 123 is neither a lender nor any legitimate finance company, however the scammers listed an address of legitimate finance company (i.e. Reliant Funding). Reliant Funding has operations in New York as well as California. Several similar complaints are being investigated by Sgt. Ash.

 

The scammers are trying to lure the recipients' by sending this letter, so the recipient call them and then inquire how he/she can take advantage of this lending offer. The Sheriff's Office also says that scammers are looking to lure the recipients so they inquire about the reason for receiving this offer, and how the company "Reliant 123" has obtained their names as well as addresses.

 

Authorities further said that the letter is actually a phishing scam. The scammers' actual goal is to acquire your account and personal information, in order to have access of your computer from the website that is listed in that letter. The Sheriff's Office of Limestone County is urging the people who have received this letter not to call on the phone number mentioned in the letter, and also avoid going to the web address that is listed in that letter.

 

In case you have received this letter already or a similar kind of letter, then he/she has been requested to contact the Sheriff's Office of Limestone County at 254-729-3278 and then report it immediately.

 

On the other hand in case you fear that the personal identifying information got compromised, then one should contact these credit reporting agencies for checking: TransUnion 1-800-916-8800, Experian 1-888-397-3742, and Equifax 1-866-349-5191. You can also order (after every 12 months) your credit report's free copy from TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax (the 3 key credit reporting agencies) through AnnualCreditReport.com.
