Capital One hacked, information belonging to innumerable customers in USA, Canada exposed

 

A data breach of a massive scale unseen before enabled a hacker acquire admission into over 100m accounts along with applications for credit cards of Capital One customers previously in 2019. Capital One Financial Corp. declared the said breach on July 29.

 

Information stolen during the hack included e-mail ids, birth dates, ZIP codes, balances and scores on individual credit cards, payments and income details the consumers reported, portions of data on purchases and sales, as well as Social Security Numbers (SSN) belonging to approximately 140K consumers and 80,000 A/C numbers with banks from consumers holding credit cards.

 

Alongside the theft of innumerable applications for credit card, Capital One said the hack hijacked 1m Social Insurance Numbers of Canadians the counterpart of SSN for Americans.

 

As of the present, Capital One has said its plans include informing each and every one impacted with the breach as well as to offer identity protection and credit monitoring facilities for free to its clients.
