But, the surprising thing for these consumers is that they can be hacked via one such cable of a modified edition which too is likely to change soon.

Appearing as also functioning like the earliest USB cable of Apple, the new modified O.MG cable, however, facilitates the hacker with carrying out certain wireless compromise of any Mac device to which his smart-phone is connected through the cable. www.forbes.com posted this, August 11, 2019.

'Vice' reports about MG a cyber-security investigator who lately flaunted the altered edition of the lightening like speedily functioning cable which could compromise the PCs belonging to unwitting end-users while providing the hacker admission into the devices from remote as well as the entire lot of sensitive information they contain.

It was at the yearly hacking conference namely Def Con where MG showed off the product and offered all the extra details of it. The hacking cable is known as O.MG cable.

MG explained that the distorted cable appeared as a genuine cable that also functioned like one so much so that the hijacked PC too wouldn't recognize the difference, except when he as a hacker wirelessly gained hold over the cable.

Presently MG is aiming at getting the O.MG cable as one genuine security equipment. The cyber-security researcher stated a company Hak5 was working to get that done. The hacking cables would be manufactured not as modified Apple cables but from scratch.

In addition MG stated it was really hard to do the modification on Apple cables, therefore, by successfully installing one, the other cables could be created as he planned for.

The security investigator is presently offering his cables to interested buyers at $200. He asserts a hacker can be at a maximum distance of 300 feet from the PC where using a smart-phone he can connect directly. Further, by using an antenna the attacker can acquire control from an even further distance.
