Israeli Arab Nabbed for Cyber-vandalism of Israeli Websites

A 17-year-old Israeli Arab resident is arrested by the police for his association with an international gang of cyber criminals aiming and sabotaging Israeli sites. In 2006, the cyber-terrorists were successful in closing almost 750 Israeli sites, resulting in huge financial losses.

The hackers supposedly damaged several websites owned by the Maccabi Tel Aviv, Likud Party, online shopping portals and Internet websites used by computer systems of different firms as servers.

The fraud section of the Northern District Police is ready to forward a petition asking for five-days of extra remand for the alleged cyber-terrorist on January 1, 2008. The gang, which addresses itself as "Team-Evil", appeared to have roped in cyber-terrorists from countries like Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and several other Islamic nations.

The three key networks from where cyber terrorism have developed or fanned out are situated in Saudi Arabia, and the police believe that mostly Arabs holding Israeli citizenship are also engaged in this mission.

The Israeli youngster arrested recently is actually arrested after a one and half year long probe. The youngster's mother tried to conceal his PC when police came to his residence, however, the PC was discovered, and detectives found further proof of the youth's criminal offense. He will be indicted with a number of grave cyber crimes.
