DiData gives NSW a clean bill of spam health

A growing amount of spam and email viruses has resulted in DiData shifting the NSW Department of Health onto hosted anti-spam and antivirus products from MessageLabs. DiData's NSW security practice manager, Paul Sproule, said the integrator had been asked to propose a solution to the department's email issues. "The department was experiencing very high volumes of spam, more so than viruses," he said. "It was becoming quite a problem so we suggested a couple of solutions, including MessageLabs." The bulk of the Department's day-to-day email is to eight Area Health Services, the Ambulance Service of NSW and a number of other statewide health services. Sproule said the other solution suggested by DiData wasn't a hosted solution and had more in common with the problematic self-managed system already in use at the Department.
