Symantec Claims Malware Incursion Mainly Due To Software Flaws

The malware count of Symantec crossed the one million mark first time in late 2007 with the escalation in the number of innovative malware threats, the firm declared in its half-yearly report on the security situation, as reported by COMPUTERWORLD on April 8, 2008.

As indicated by Symantec's report, out of the 1.1 Million malware threats that the company has found out since it started recording signatures during the last 25 years, over 700,000 were detected in 2007 alone with bulk of the threats totaling to 499,811 notified in the second half of 2007.
