Microsoft Update Rids 2 Million Computers of Password Stealers

Microsoft's MSRT (Malicious Software Removal Tool), an application that finds and eradicates bad programs like viruses from Windows computers, removed password-stealing programs for online games from over 2 Million computers during June 10-17, 2008 after the application was updated for detecting these malware programs.

One password-stealing program called Taterf was spotted on 700,000 systems on June 10, 2008. Over the period of detection, Microsoft eradicated Taterf from nearly 1.3 Million systems.
