Microsoft Cleaned 400,000 Computers Containing Bogus Security Software

According to a recent announcement made by Microsoft Corp., it has booted "Antivirus 2009", a rouge application, from nearly 400,000 personal computers. The company said that its experts deleted the bogus antivirus from more than 394,000 PCs during the first 9 days following the release of its December update on December 9, 2008.

Through this December campaign, Microsoft also addressed a different malware family dubbed 'W32/FakXPA' that contains bogus security software known as 'AntivirusXP 2008' and 'Antivirus XP'.
