Tough Economic Conditions to Drive Cyber Crimes in 2009

Security firm McAfee has predicted that malware attacks in 2009 are likely to be driven by declining economy. The global research group of McAfee recently published a report named "2009 Threat Predictions", which highlights that the difficult economic situation would lead to increase in exploitation of end-users and expansion of cyber crimes.

Agreeing with McAfee's statement, Former Microsoft Managing Director and Security Advisor of security company Comsec, Stuart Okin, said that the current economic conditions are expected to raise the cases of security threats, but emphasized that insider attacks would pose the greatest threat, as reported by Vnunet on January 20, 2009.
