Investment into Securities vis-à-vis Malware Imperative

Malware adversely impacts all sections of society including corporate houses, government organizations, and daily consumers. Therefore, according to QinetiQ a defense technology firm in UK investments should be administered into securities for preventing malware infections, reported ComputerWeekly on July 22, 2011.

As a result, the Department of Defense (DoD) recently launched a plan with the motive of investing into equipment replacements, annually and acquiring new hardware in limited installments rather than in a massive scale.

According to Operations Director of Security Practice, Neil Cassidy at QinetiQ, the money reaped from malicious software ignites criminal activity. Therefore, it is essential to invest in the country's cyber-security industry for making such illegal ventures unprofitable in future, reports ComputerWeekly.

In fact a committee has been formed, which solicits reports on what rate Internet offences are caused from malware, what sources supply malware, what amount of resources is used to fight malware, and what scale of cost associates with malware as well as the level of industry's efficacy in providing security.

Reportedly, the committee is a science and technology committee of the House of Commons that solicits reports about malware's influence and the government's function towards combating it. In addition, it also solicits proofs, which would assist it in accumulating additional information on earlier enquiries for cyber crimes, and consequently in having a national response towards addressing them security-wise.

Meanwhile, during the end of July 2011, the DoD revealed one cyber-attack that occurred on March 2011, leaking an estimated 24,000 department files. Although authorities described the incidence as "mundane" because no sensitive files were seized during the assault, still they apprehend trouble in future. Thus, they have revealed a cyber strategy capable of driving the government towards supplanting defense PCs far more rapidly.

However, according to Cyber Security Expert and Lawyer, Jason Epstein, the manner in which cyber-criminals would be evolving over time would decide the government's as well as its vendors' requirement for maintaining watch as also attempting at staying ahead reported AbcNews/Technology on July 22, 2011.
