USA’s Hacking Charges against Countries’ Nationals could Backlash Other Countries Doing Same Vis-À-Vis American Citizens

The Justice Department of United States recently charged 7 Iranians having connections with the intelligence section for allegedly executing cyber attacks during 2011-2013 on 46 American institutions of finance to the extent of crippling their systems. After unsealing the charges last Thursday, they also included a remote access charge of certain dam's control system in Rye, New York against one person among the seven indicted.

None accused is under U.S authorities' custody while their probable arrests are somewhat uncertain. Also is unclear if criminal charges during absentia will adequately contain such offences. The Department of Justice has been using a tactic since 2012 that focuses on naming and disgracing the kind of crimes, publicly that associate with overseas governments.

The hackers have been charged with contaminating innumerable users' PCs with malicious software for amassing an army of PCs that would inundate major institutions' servers to the extent of making them go offline. The institutions attacked were the New York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ and the Bank of America.

Reacting to USA's charges, the government of Iran stated that America by waging cyber assaults on the Iranian nuclear facilities actually meant for peaceful purposes endangered all Iranian citizens with an environmental catastrophe and so by no means could blame other nation states' citizens, particularly of Iran's.

The indictment stated that the 7 males accused worked on behalf of dual computer security firms based in Iran which provided their services to the government of Iran, particularly the highly authoritative Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. These men apparently executed large-scale DDoS (distributed denial-of-service) assaults that flooded certain server with e-traffic so as for knocking it down. Npr.com posted this online dated March 27, 2016.

And because United States willingly goes after individuals rather than condemning the authority/government they serve, it could as well mean that other countries too cannot be stopped via any means from accusing America's military officials who participated in United States' cyber assaults. Thus, USA is playing an enormous merry-go-round game where common foot soldiers take entire condemnation on themselves rather than the people who command them and whose orders they obey.
