Web 2.0 Technology: Boon or Curse for Internet?

A security researcher at Fortify, an online security firm, during Web 2.0 Expo held in San Francisco, tried to draw attention towards security vulnerabilities arising from the usage of Web 2.0 technology that is capable to create attractive and profound number of new applications.

Jacob West, Manager of Security Research Group Fortify, said that protection against attacks was the biggest challenge, but with the introduction of Web 2.0 technology, it became even more difficult, as reported by ZDnetasia on April 24, 2008.

Fortify's security researchers said that sometimes it seems as if they are loosing battle against malware writers because today, huge number of sites are hosting malware.
