Careless Developers Condemned for SQL Attacks on Websites

Sloppy site creators have been blamed for a new rush of attacks on SQL Web servers that are found to have taken control over several thousands Websites, according to a security company on May 1, 2008.

Jacob West, Manager, Fortify's Security Research Group, said that according to Newswire reports, several thousands Websites have come under a bulk SQL attack. Jacob said that the attack symbolizes hackers' development of semi-automatic as well as highly sophisticated attack patterns, as reported bySecurity ProPortal on May 1, 2008.

When the attack is launched, the application behind it harnesses Google in attempts to find those sites that have a parameter and file type that seem to be prone to SQL injection. The code then uses the series of targeted sites to launch a stubborn X...
