Scansafe Claims that Malware Grew by 35% in AprilThe monthly research by Scansafe examines that Web related attacks from harmful software that are made to damage computer systems are on a rise with almost 35% increase in April 2008 only. Almost 500,000 highly reputable sites like of United Nations have had their content attacked by the recent wave of 'Structured Query Language' (SQL) injection. Also, an 'iframe injection' is misappropriating search queries to malware downloads on a various middle-tier sites that together carries the 'long tail' of the internet. The research done by Scansafe has its foundations on various web requests that the company logs in on behalf of business customers nationwide. The failure of consumer software to detect harmful malware attacks is an emerging issue both inside and outside office, as more roaming employees' get loosed of security accessing confidential company material simultaneous to pleasure Website. Mary Landesman, a Senior Security Researcher, Scansafe, said that it is quite unlikely that we have witnessed the last of both these attacks. It is owing to the sophisticated way of attacking and the increasing number of hacking that made user remain cautious of attacks, as reported by opRisk&Compliance on May 12, 2008. Further, with the growing SQL attack, Web surfers were affected by an expanding attack on mid-tier sites. High profile victim Websites include the Ikea, the city of Cleveland and Computer Associates. Also, past attacks were on obscure pages on infected sites, the focus of April 2008 attacks were towards most visited pages.
