Web-based Malware Reach 12-Month Peak

MessageLabs, a major provider of web security and messaging services to enterprises around the world, on July 1, 2008, declared the outcome of its MessageLabs Intelligence Report for June 2008. The report indicated that the proportion of new malevolent Websites blocked per day had increased to 58% in June 2008, a level that had reached the highest since April 2007.

According to Mark Sunner, Chief Security Analyst at MessageLabs, Web-based malicious programs have become dangerous tools in the armory of cyber-crooks.
