Symantec Cautions about Latest Attack on Microsoft Word

As per the reports from the leading security vendor, Symantec, on July 8, 2008, it was found that cyber crooks had invented another method to target computer users by exploiting what Symantec called a latest bug in the software of Microsoft Word.

The Security Analysts at Symantec informed that the alert appeared on its site. The alert said that it had witnessed hackers using a hidden flaw to attack Microsoft Word.

The reports also revealed that Symantec had released some details of the attack, saying that it is still working with Microsoft to check its findings.

Symantec also added that preliminary analysis pointed - some versions of Microsoft Office, even when fully repaired, are influenced by this exploit, as reported by CIO on July 9, 2008.
