Trusted Websites Biggest Target for Attackers

According to Sophos, vendor of anti-virus software, it released a report on July 23, 2008 win which it found one Web page containing malicious material in every 5 seconds, indicating to a trend that rose 300% from 2007, as reported by cnetnews on July 23, 2008.

Sophos also said in its Security Threat Report for January-June 2008 that it detected more than 16,000 malicious Web pages every day. These pages are result of harmful SQL-injection attacks against authorized Websites like the attack on Sony's US PlayStation Website in July 2008.

Other tricks used by hackers include placing of simple Hyper Text Multiple Language (HTML) code on an infected page via an SQL injection of 1x1 pixel element. While accessing to the page,...
