Small Companies Assume False Sense of SecurityMcAfee announced on July 23, 2008 that one third (32%) of SMEs (small and medium enterprises) in Canada and the United States became target of attackers, who increased their attacks over four times by either planting malicious computer software like viruses, or by sending malicious emails, during the past three years. According to Darrell Rodenbaugh, Senior Vice President of the Mid-Market unit at McAfee, viruses, spyware, spam and hacker intrusions can result in computer downtime, stolen data, decreased productivity, lost sales, compliance problems and even damage to reputation for any size of business, as reported by CIOL on July 23, 2008.
