Infected Websites Grow Three Times MoreSecurity firm Sophos has discovered that cyber criminals are progressively using new creative techniques to extract money from Internet users. Sophos reported that January-June 2008 witnessed a blast of threats disseminated through the Web, a preferred medium of attack for financially inclined cyber miscreants. On an average, Sophos detects 16,173 malware-infected Web pages each day, or 1 malicious page in every 5 seconds. The rate is triple of what was observed during 2007. Besides, more than 90% of the pages disseminating spyware and trojans belong to legitimate Websites.
