More & More Computers Infested With Bogus Anti-Viruses
Panda Security, IT security solutions provider, announced on September 4, 2008 that it observed a rise in cyber-criminals' use of malicious programs disguised as anti-viruses but they are fake and designed to defraud end-users.
Furthermore, these applications, PandaLabs has categorized as adware, often emerge as non-chargeable downloads. Alternatively, the programs could be hidden in video or music files that users might be interested to download.
According to the security provider, these applications inform end-users, who are likely to be unaware of the application on their computers, that malware has been spotted. Then, they propose the users to purchase the anti-virus' complete version to clean the system.
