Russian Police Identified Author of Gpcode Ransomeware

The Russian police claimed that they found the writer of Gpcode virus, which was in reality a ransomware.

The police disclosed that the notorious Gpcode ransomware virus, which attacked systems during July 2008, was crafted by a single person known to the investigating authorities.

Further, it is believed that the person is a Russian national and associated with an anti-malware firm Kaspersky Lab. He wanted to sell a tool which could help to decrypt the files of victims.

According to online security experts, a number of variants of Gpcode has appeared since 2006 and each variant has stronger encryption power than other.
