Warezov Botnet Becomes Active After Nine Months
According to the latest reports received from Joe Stewart, malware Director at SecureWorks, a online security company, the Warezov botnet has returned with a new methodology after remaining in hibernation for over nine months (since January 2008).
Also, SecureWorks said that during 2nd week of October 2008, Trojan horses that establish the Warezov bot came to light on Websites presenting free MP3 downloads.
Commenting on its most recent method of operation, Stewart said that the Warezov bot that first surfaced in 2006 and spread via malware attacks that relied on e-mail attachments, this time, it uses a new technique to propagate and infect PCs.
