Search for “Halloween Costumes” Showing Compromised Legitimate Sites

According to security company TrendLabs, a search on the internet for "Halloween costumes" is likely to generate several legitimate Websites, but they have been infected and might encourage users to load rogue anti-virus program on their systems.

As per a TrendLabs blog post, dated October 22, 2008, the Halloween attack relies on manipulation of search engine optimization utility to effectively spread the campaign, as reported by SCMagazine on October 23, 2008.
