USB Drives Increasingly Infecting Systems with Computer VirusesAntivirus program developer, Trend Micro Inc. has observed that virus attacks through USB flash drives had increased more than two folds in September 2008. Furthermore, attacks using the Otorun worm, which spread through removal drives like USB flash drives, went up 140% to record 347 cases in September 2008 against August 2008. The firm's monthly reports also indicated that cases of computer viruses transferred through USB flash drives started to surge in February 2008, with Otorun attacks touching 517 cases from January 2008 to June 2008, the most common one surpassing 201 cases. The firm also maintained that 53.7% of the recently discovered viruses (in September 2008) were able to slip into PCs through USB drives.
