Cyber Criminals to Take Advantage of Holiday SeasonOn November 21, 2008, IBM Internet Security Systems (ISS), keeping in consideration the past and current security trends, revealed some of the prime areas where the Internet security of the users' PCs will be at risk during the holiday season. According to the security experts, potential threats comprise of a new drive of spam e-mails, containing malevolent codes. The security research team of IBM ISS X-Force has observed an increase in the "parasitic" malicious code since the commencement of 2008. These comprise of payloads of malicious e-mails, which are able to sidestep the users' security programs such as firewalls, antivirus, etc., thereby, hacking the target PCs.
