Cyber Threats to Escalate in 2009 - VeriSign

VeriSign iDefense Security Intelligence Services recently released a report which says that while the year 2008 had seen the malicious online activities and security threats reaching a peak point, in 2009, cyber criminals will primarily target the vital infrastructure systems. Also, they will take advantage of the worldwide financial meltdown to perform various malicious activities.

Security experts state that two main reasons will play the key roles for the rise in malware attacks. One involves the theft of data from separately infected systems, while the other relates to acquiring control of various types of systems to build a botnet.
