ScanSafe Forecasts Bleak Security Scenario for 2009

According to the new reports published by vnunet on December 15, 2008, web security provider ScanSafe predicts that the year 2009 would have a bleak security landscape as internet threats are expected to remain very high.

The security firm said that the amount of malware from web is already growing at approximately 6% a month. Simultaneously, the actual RoE (Rate of Exposure) is rising at approximately 16% a month. RoE, which measures the frequency of a user exposure to malicious programs, has been higher in 2008 in comparison to the increase in volume. This, according to ScanSafe, is thought to be a direct result of the continuous hijacking of lawful websites during the year.
