Authorities Asked to Crackdown Harder on ‘Scareware’ Companies
According to the news reports came in the 2nd week of December 2008, the state is urging regulatory authorities and law enforcers to screw companies even harder that are shipping scareware, or increasing the risk of these threats more and more in 2009. This follows the orders issued by the FTC to terminate operations of two major companies because of their alleged involvement in the supposed scareware scam, as reported by vnunet on December 17, 2008.
While describing scareware, security experts said it is a software that fraudulent firms advertise to surreptitiously claim its capability of removing malicious applications that are actually non-existent.
